POWER RELIABLE OPERATIONS THROUGH ELECTRICAL, AUTOMATION, CONTROLS, AND TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP
Original Composites & Fiberglass is seeking an experienced Electrical, Controls & IT Leader to provide strategic and operational leadership for electrical systems, controls engineering, automation, and site information technology at our Amarillo facility. Reporting to the Plant Leader, this role will improve equipment reliability, process stability, cybersecurity discipline, manufacturing productivity, and operational performance through strong technical leadership and disciplined execution.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with solid automation knowledge who can connect electrical reliability, control systems, plant technology, and business priorities. The plant electricians will report directly to this position. This leader will also oversee the site IT department of one, provide leadership for controls engineering, develop technical capability, and partner across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Regional functions to modernize systems and sustain results.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead with safety, compliance, and disciplined risk management
• Champion the plant safety culture and integrate safety into electrical, controls, automation, and IT decisions.
• Ensure electrical work, control-system changes, and technology solutions comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable electrical codes.
• Identify and mitigate electrical, machine-safety, automation, operational-technology, and cybersecurity risks.
• Support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, lockout/tagout, machine safeguarding, and safe work around energized equipment.
Lead electricians, electrical reliability, and asset performance
• Provide direct people leadership for the plant electricians, including work priorities, safe execution, performance expectations, technical development, and accountability.
• Develop and execute the site electrical reliability strategy for critical infrastructure and production equipment.
• Establish preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance practices for electrical systems and components.
• Lead troubleshooting and permanent resolution of recurring electrical failures, chronic losses, and equipment instability.
• Partner with Operations and Maintenance to prioritize work orders, outage activities, spare-parts strategies, and reliability improvements.
• Use data and structured problem solving to improve uptime, equipment availability, OEE, and plant reliability.
Lead controls engineering and automation
• Provide technical leadership for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, drives, instrumentation, industrial networks, vision systems, robotics, and manufacturing-control technologies.
• Develop and maintain standards for programming, system architecture, backups, documentation, change management, and lifecycle support.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities that improve safety, quality, productivity, process stability, and reliability.
• Lead structured troubleshooting of complex process-control and equipment-performance issues.
• Develop modernization plans for aging controls infrastructure and critical production assets.
• Ensure automation solutions are supportable, secure, documented, and aligned with plant and company standards.
Lead site information technology
• Lead the site IT function, including direct oversight and development of the plant IT resource.
• Partner with Corporate IT and Cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance with company policies, standards, and security requirements.
• Support reliable plant networks, endpoints, manufacturing systems, user technology, and connected operational-technology environments.
• Coordinate deployment of enterprise systems, digital tools, cybersecurity initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, and business-continuity solutions.
• Ensure timely prioritization, escalation, and resolution of technology issues affecting plant operations.
Drive capital execution, modernization, and continuous improvement
• Develop the site roadmap for electrical infrastructure, controls, automation, manufacturing technology, and digital capability.
• Lead technical evaluations, business cases, cost justifications, and implementation plans for capital and improvement projects.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, within approved cost and schedule expectations, and with sustainable operating ownership.
• Validate project benefits and establish measures, documentation, training, and follow-up routines that sustain results.
• Support TPM, Daily Management Systems, loss elimination, and continuous improvement across the facility.
Build technical capability and organizational strength
• Lead and develop the plant electricians and strengthen electrical, controls, automation, and IT capability through coaching, training, clear standards, and practical problem solving.
• Establish clear priorities, accountability, and performance expectations for the functions under the role.
• Build succession and development plans for critical technical positions.
• Create strong partnerships across Plant, Regional, and Corporate teams and lead change associated with modernization and digitalization.
WHAT YOU BRING
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Progressive manufacturing experience supporting electrical systems, controls engineering, industrial automation, and plant technology.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Solid automation knowledge, including PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking, instrumentation, process controls, and variable-frequency drives.
• Experience leading troubleshooting and permanent corrective action for complex equipment and process issues.
• Working knowledge of operational-technology cybersecurity and industrial network principles.
• Experience with capital projects, project management, contractors, and equipment implementation.
• Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making capability.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Ten or more years of progressive manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, controls, or automation experience.
• Experience in fiberglass, glass manufacturing, continuous-process manufacturing, chemicals, metals, paper, building materials, or a similarly complex industrial environment.
• Experience implementing advanced automation, robotics, digital manufacturing, connected-factory technologies, or Industry 4.0 solutions.
• Experience with MES, historian systems, SAP, manufacturing analytics, or other plant information platforms.
• Professional Engineering registration, Six Sigma certification, Lean certification, or comparable technical credentials.
• Experience leading organizational change and technology-transformation initiatives.
